WHY I LOVE THE 80'S ??????

Posted at www.freewebs.com/ericsblog last Wednesday, Dec 6, 2006

I love the 80's! I was born in 1970's, so I spent my formative youth in the late 70's and 80's. Everything was so cool back then. You could play Ghosts in the in the streets with your friends after dark without worrying about being robbed, murdered, etc. The music was awesome. Duran Duran, Rick Springfield, the Boss, Twisted Sister, oh man, the memories! MTV was the best! The toys were so cool too.
Remember Monchichi's? How about Lite Brite, and Pac-Man, and Care Bears, I could go on and on and on! The TV shows were so cool. Remember Knight Rider with Kit the talking car? And Dukes of Hazzard? Roscoe P. Coletrain! How about Dallas? Who did shoot J.R. anyway? Oh man, if I could only go back to those innocent times. Well, if I knew what I know now anyway. I graduated high school in the 80's.
Those were some of the best times of my life. spent my teens and the 80's were an illustrious time to be alive. There were so many things to recall...which I can't control my emotions to rekindle my younger days.............I am a true child of the 80s. I don't know whether it's nostalgia for a seemingly simpler time or what, but I think the 80s had some of the best music ever made--from bands like Duran Duran, Culture Club, Huey Lewis and the News, and of course the hard rock (glam rock, whatever you call it, it ROCKED!) bands like Def Leppard, Cinderella, Europe and Britny Fox.
I LOVED the long, teased hair and make-up. Those guys were so sexy! Speaking of music, there was no better time to watch MTV than in the 80s--when they actually played music videos 24-7-365. Headbanger's Ball in the late 80s was something I looked forward to every Saturday night. There were other great video shows and channels too, like the show "Friday Night Vidoes" and "Video Rocks" and the "other" music vid channels, Hit Video USA (anyone remember that one from around 1987?) and VH1. I think the toys were better in the 80s than they are now too. Strawberry Shortcake was my favorite toy from that era. The new look just doesn't cut it. We didn't need highly technological toys to have fun.
The Garfield of the 80s was the best and the 80s was also a time when good cartoons, like Woody Woodpecker, the Flintstones, Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes, could be seen on regular TV--not just on Boomerang and the Cartoon Network. There were other way cool things like Trend Scratch & Sniff stickers--remember when we all had sticker books?! Some of the other great stuff that is just a memory today: back patches of your favorite band on your jean jacket, Jellies shoes, "Back to the Future" on the big screen, "high" hair, frosted pink lipstick, neon clothes and accessories, soft sculptures (balloons, shooting stars, etc.) to hang up in your bedroom, the Magic Mushroom Air Freshner from Airwick (I LOVED those)!, "The Dukes of Hazzard" on Friday night Prime Time TV, etc. etc!Haayyy.......miss the 80's so much..............what else can I do but just looking back.

WHAT'S ON THE 80'S ???????????

Posted at www.freewebs.com/ericsblog last Friday, Oct 20, 2006

I miss 80's so much which I can't help but flashing back the great memories I had.
The 80's was a child of the 70's, in every way , in culture, and arts. Welcome to the age where recalling back most of the new wave era. It's nice to rekindle seeing myself how I looked like in the 80's. I was in baston jeans, wearing colored shirts , the hair being polished with spray net and gels. 80's was the generation where we can speak out loud freely ....thru musics, fashion, movies and shows.
That was also the time where the envasion of British to the music world industry....leading the fad of new wave and punk style. Everytime I hear music from the 80's that is being played in the radio, it will bring me back in times...Flashing back the good time which I shared to the world. A generation, I cannot compare, something that you cannot forget but rewinding the past. If I could just turn back time, I certainly want to be in the late 70's going to 80's. Finally, the 80’s witnessed a revolution in the car industry. With great automobiles like the Buick Regal, Jeep CJ-7, Chevy Suburban, and Cadillac .
According to Brando We are the children of the eighties. We are not the first "lost generation" nor today's lost generation; in fact, we think we know just where we stand - or are discovering it as we speak. We are the ones who played with Lego Building Blocks when they were just building blocks and gave Malibu Barbie crewcuts with safety scissors that never really cut. We collected Garbage Pail Kids and Cabbage Patch Kids and My Little Pony and Hot wheels and He-Man action figures and thought She-Ra looked just a litle bit like I would as a woman. Big wheels and bicycles with streamers were the way to go, and sidewalk chalk was all you needed to build a city. Imagination was a key, It made the Ewok Treehouse big enough for you to be Luke and the kitchen table and an old sheet dark enough to be a tent in the forest. Your world was the backyard and it was all you needed. With your pink portable tape player, Debbie Gibson sang back up to you and everyone wanted a skirt like the Material Girl and a glove like Michael Jackson's.
Today, we are the ones who sing along with Bruce Springsteen and The Bangles perfectly and have no idea why. In the Eighties, we redefined the Dream, and those years defined us. We are the generation in between strife and facing strife and not turning our backs. The Eighties may have made us idealistic, but it's idealism that will push us and be passed on to our children - the first children of the 21st Century. Never forget-We are the Children of The 80s.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Here is a moving story that is being passed around through the Internet. I hope you will not shed a tear or two after you read this story.
The story goes that some time ago a man punished his 5- year old daughter for wasting a roll of expensive gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became even more upset when the child pasted the gold paper so as to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift box to her father the next morning and said, " This is for you, Daddy." The father was embarrased by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found the box was empty. He spoke to her in a harsh manner, " Dont you know, young lady, when you give someone a present there's supposed to be something inside the package?"
The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said, " Oh Daddy, its not empty.I blew kisses into it until it was full." The father was crushed. He felt on his knees and put his arms around his little girl, and he begged her to forgive him for his unnecessary anger.
An unfortunate accident took the life of the child only a short time later and it told that the father kept that gold box by his bed for all the years of his life. And whenever he was discouraged or faced difficult problems he would open the box and take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.
In a very real sense, each of us as human beings has been given a golden box filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, family, friends and God.
There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.

HAS PHILIPPINE ENGLISH GONE TO THE CARABAOS????

Posted at www.freewebs.com/ericsblog last Friday, Sep 15, 2006

I would like to share this topic which I made during my Current Issues subject in school.Honestly, this has been a very controversial topic in the Philippines.
Being good in English is an asset for the Philippines.English proficiency will make you competent in the games called globalized world.Highly recognize companies and establishments, always demands English profeciency to applicants. The trend now is globalization, that it is advancing the national interests of the Philippines that mastery in English will not result in decline in filipino language proficiency but can be a cosmopolitan.
The question was not about adequate english proficiency, but, Do our students, can still be saved from carabao english?Evidences gathered that: Some teachers are not highly competent in grammar, Students acquire the same error.Fear of mistakes and embarrasment, students prefer to be passive.Teachers speak filipino in the class so that they can express and elaborate more easily. Students poor in english vocabulary, teachers themselves lack english vocabulary.Faculty and staff, seldom uses english when they talk to each other specially to students.Lastly, students didn't pay much attention to their english subject.
Some of the recommendations I got from the english speaking students and filipino students who were fluent in english are the following: Implement strict rules in school campuses as an English speaking zone.
Stop the students of popularizing jibberish frankenstein called taglish which is neither grammatical Filipino nor decent English. Make friends to native speakers or students who are fluent.Read more English books. magazines, newspapers and list down the difficult words to expand the vocabulary.Watch good english movies and tv shows and new programs.Consult the experts for more improvements.
Try to communicate in English whenever it is possible, in dormitories, classroom and in every places where there is a chance.Practice good pronunciations and listen to good speakers. Accept correction from students who are grammarians. Develop interest in English through constant self-practice.
From that I ended to a good conclusions which I beleived that would help: Faulty usage of English will not only prevent millions of filipinos high school and college student graduates landing high-paying jobs, but it will create endless havoc, jeopardize trade, commerce, info.technology.Seriously, the continuing decline of English language proficiency in almost all segments of Philippines society has becoming an alarming national problem of crisis proportions.Without English proficiency, how can our millions of talented but jobless youths' become the pillars of the Philippine economy.
For the sake of saving civilization and the future of English in this country, and to prevent the destructive tsunami of constipated english in the country, let's challenge our students (including myself) that our once mastery and competitive advantage of good Philippine English made us ahead to our Asian neighbors.

LUCKY.......??????????????????????????????????????

Posted at www.freewebs.com/ericsblog last Tuesday, Sep 12, 2006

I had never really been lucky when it came to love.It seemed that girls were falling for those hairy guys.As if hair even mattered? What really matters is a kind heart and a faithful spirit.I was sure that if a girl would at least take the time to know me then she would find out that I am really a kind gentle person who will love her for the rest of her life. Unfortunately, they never were able to look past my scalp. In fact, it seemed that the entire world was putting too much emphasis on the physical appearance of people and too little emphasis on the brain thus giving people like me a big disadvantage.
I met some girls at my college now and some were my friends but it seemed they were after a husband that they could brag about in public and I just wasn't that person. It was the story of my life and I was beginning to lose hope that it would ever change.
It seems that however that technology is on my side. Thanks to the magic of computers I have been able to get to know a lot of ladies.I had chatting with this particular woman for two years now.We seemed to have everything in coomon. We both loved to travel, we both enjoyed missionary works, and we both felt we had been unlucky in love.We felt the right time was right to meet in person and so here I am waiting for her.I already told her about my physical condition and she had assured me that it didnt matter how I looked.I had likewise assured her that it would be the same for her.She was almost at the same age as me and we decided to meet soon.
So...I'm gonna post soon whenever the chance approves me.

MY MEMOIR......BALD IS SEXY

Posted at www.freewebs.com/ericsblog last Monday, Sep 11, 2006

I was young. I was fair skinned, with a (thick) flat top hair styled to the latest fashion and healthy as a growing young person should be.
It was 1997 when my inferiorites started to develop, when I slowly noticed that my hair was falling just a dry leaves were falling off the tree. I began to worry and doubt. Was I going to be bald? Few strands of hair were scattered in my pillow every time I get up from bed and the agony of losing my hair aggravated my sensibilities.
I have become temperamental because of my hair thinning everyday. I soon found myself inventing shampoo made of herbal plants to save my crowning glory. I was oblivious of the damage concoction was doing to my hair. To my dismay, I found a halo at the cowlick on my head. I bargained with God if He would bring back my hair from its (healthy) normal thickness, I wouldn't hold any ill will on Him.
Ridicules and jeering remarks from friends and relatives became my normal life. I was a laughingstock at work and it truly broke my heart almost forcing me to quit from my job then,I asked God to answer my indistinctive prayers. His answers were deep and my human capacity to understand is limited.
Now I am getting more mature and I have been in circulation bald for many years. Now I understand it is a hereditary. If they had seen me then during my early 20's surely they will starstruck. But those were the days.
There still are times when I would feel hurt if they talk behind my back. As for me, bald is sexy and beautiful. And there is no turning back.

SUNDAY BREAK

Posted at www.freewebs.com/ericsblog last Sunday, Sep 10, 2006

I remember that I already had a Blog which I made using other site. it was at www.freewebs.com
But since it's not as popular as selling hot cakes just like this blogspot.....I thought of transferring my account and my daily online journals here.
So, it's goes like this people..............................posted September 10,2006. Sunday
I wasn't able to post a blog yesterday. 'coz I was off to church and did some spiritual stuff for my spiritual body.
It may sounds so corny but we truly need sometimes.not sometimes but most of the time to have ample hours for the Mighty Being up there.I just thank God for the 6 days He had given for us and the blessings that we receive each day.The sermon was good and its all about God's powerful messages, how it will change us unless we will allow Him to do so.
After the service,we went directly to the dining area for the hearty potluck.Gee,I never contribute anything, however, I didnt indulge myself to the food coz its my way of culture not too eat too much on Saturdays.Right now, I browsed the net and check my emails from abroad.Of course, updating my website every now and then.

MY FIRST EVER BLOG

Posted at www.freewebs.com/ericsblog last Friday, Sep 8, 2006

Honestly, I dont have any idea whats blog is all about. Before blogging has come to existence..I already had my own website which I created for three years...gee...imagine three years.
There was no internet before in my younger years..there might have, but it was only intended for aristocratic homo sapiensUntil , I read several sites and messages about blog so I decided to post one. Got an idea now,Web logs" now called "blogs" are personal or group journals published on the Web. Blogs are a great way to communicate your opinions, comment on things going on in your life, keep your visitors up to date on what you are up to, or talk about other issues of interest to your users.
In addition, blogs allow your users to comment and discuss what you write, all on your current site! Plus, as a blog user, you can comment on other blogs as well! Don't forget to add your profile. In other words, its a substitute for the traditional one which is Diary.Honestly, I dont have any idea whats blog is all about.
Eventually, I already made one just a couple of months now but I thought of creating a new one and transferred them here. Next time, I will post a new one.I am quite exhausted due to my insomia.
